Project Description:
Ticonderoga CSD Auditorium Restoration
PROJECT OVERVIEW: The Ticonderoga Central School District project combines modern upgrades with historic preservation, addressing functional improvements and the restoration of a century-old architectural treasure within the educational facility.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: This component focuses on practical upgrades. Work includes the removal and replacement of windows throughout the older portion of the school building, enhancing energy efficiency while preserving architectural integrity.
The renovation also encompasses a complete modernization of the school's planetarium, creating an enhanced educational space that supports astronomy instruction and enriches the overall learning environment for current and future generations of Ticonderoga students.

HISTORIC RESTORATION: The historic restoration centers on the 100-year-old auditorium, preserving this significant cultural asset for future generations. Work includes careful removal and replacement of spray acoustic plaster and installation of new plaster moldings to replace damaged ornate elements. The project addresses structural integrity through repair of cracks and removal of non-historic electrical elements.
PRESERVATION DETAILS: Meticulous restoration of historic wood auditorium seating includes careful stripping, repair, and replacement of damaged components or non-historic modifications. Period chandeliers undergo complete refurbishment, restoring their original character while incorporating modern safety standards.
EDUCATIONAL IMPACT: This balanced approach to renovation preserves the school's historic character while providing students with improved facilities. The project demonstrates commitment to both educational excellence and architectural heritage preservation within the Ticonderoga Central School District.
