Project Description:

Schenectady Library

HISTORIC RENEWAL: Originally built in 1969 by Sweet Associates Inc., the library received a substantial 6,700-square-foot expansion to house the new children's area.

ARCHITECTURAL EXCELLENCE: The major architectural features included contractor-designed, pre-cast, arched concrete columns that support the east side of the addition. Energy-efficient glazing between these columns fill the interior with natural light, creating a welcoming atmosphere for young readers.

ENHANCED COMMUNITY RESOURCES: This thoughtful expansion created valuable new spaces, including dedicated tutoring rooms, versatile meeting areas, a specialized preschool room, and upgraded technology services with modern computer terminals.

COMPREHENSIVE RENOVATIONS: The project also included significant improvements to the first floor and lobby areas, with complete restroom upgrades enhancing accessibility and comfort for all library patrons.

"VMJR provided us with a great team to complete a complex project. I have worked with a lot of site supervisors and I would say that Dan was the best I have ever worked with."
