OUR HISTORY
For more than 50 years, The VMJR Companies has led the construction industry across the Adirondacks and Capital Region with a legacy of excellence.

Our company founder, Vic Macri, launched his career in construction back in 1971, working at a concrete testing laboratory, where he swiftly stepped into a leadership role. This would define his work life going forward.
After collaborating and getting to know numerous contractors, Vic decided in 1974 to join Sweet Associates as a project engineer. Sweet had an alliance with Adirondack Construction and by 1984 Vic had assumed the role of president of Adirondack.
In 1991, he unified both companies into one, taking over the leadership role, and creating what is known today as The VMJR Companies.
Vic’s leadership style emphasizes excellence, collaboration, and exceptional problem- solving skills. He built The VMJR Companies on these values, and today its legacy continues through his mentorship and guidance.
Our roots run deep in restoring the historic landmarks that define New York State’s identity, revitalizing the architecture that anchors its vibrant small cities and towns. Beyond preservation, our portfolio spans complex municipal, state, and federal projects, with proven expertise in education, commercial, industrial, and manufacturing sectors of all sizes.
With a team of over 60 skilled professionals, we’ve delivered millions of square feet in successful building projects and generate approximately $35 million in annual construction revenue. These achievements are the result of deep collaboration—with project owners, end-users, community stakeholders, and design partners alike.
