Project Description:

Veteran's Park

Veterans park renderingPROJECT OVERVIEW: VMJR partnered with the Town of Bolton on the comprehensive redevelopment of Veterans Memorial Park—an ambitious project designed to enhance community recreation, honor local veterans, and protect the natural beauty of Lake George. This transformative initiative reimagines the park as a vibrant, year-round destination serving both residents and visitors to Bolton Landing.

RECREATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE: The project's centerpiece is a new 2,300-square-foot multi-use waterfront recreation building designed for year-round use. This facility will serve as headquarters for the Bolton Recreation Department while providing flexible space for after-school programs, summer camps, community gatherings, and seasonal activities. The development also features upgraded basketball courts complemented by new tennis and pickleball facilities, all strategically positioned to maximize available space.

SITE IMPROVEMENTS: An extensive network of new walkways enhances pedestrian connectivity throughout the park and provides seamless access to the lakefront, the beach, and downtown Bolton Landing. The improved circulation enhances the visitor experience while reducing congestion. Additional amenities include new year-round restrooms, a covered picnic pavilion, and a themed destination playground designed for active recreation.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP: To protect Lake George's exceptional water quality, the project incorporates significant stormwater management improvements. These infrastructure enhancements prevent runoff from entering the lake, aligning recreational development with long-term environmental protection goals for this vital natural resource.

VETERANS MEMORIAL: At the heart of the park stands a refurbished Vietnam Veterans Memorial, created from retired panels purchased from the Moving Wall system by the Bolton Landing American Legion Post. This meaningful installation honors those who served while providing a contemplative focal point within the recreational space.

PROJECT COMPLETION: Phase 1 of the Veterans Memorial Park Project is projected for completion by August 18, 2025, delivering the new Recreation Center, destination playground, and Veterans Memorial. When fully realized, the revitalized park will serve as a dynamic community hub—successfully integrating recreation, remembrance, and environmental protection for future generations.
