Project Description:
Spa Verandas at Saratoga Race Course
PROJECT OVERVIEW: Reimagining one of Saratoga Race Course's most popular destinations, the new Spa Verandas transform the former Top of the Stretch picnic area into a series of modern, partially covered lounges offering an elevated yet relaxed race-day experience. Each veranda accommodates up to 45 guests with comfortable seating, mounted televisions, betting machines, and private rail-side access for uninterrupted views of the track's thrilling final turn.
DESIGN ELEMENTS: A new one-story pavilion adds five additional veranda units, expanding capacity while maintaining the venue's signature intimacy and charm. Crafted with cedar posts and siding, Douglas fir ceilings, and a standing seam metal roof, the design balances contemporary comfort with timeless materials.
CONSTRUCTION DETAILS: Delivered on a fast-track schedule, construction began in mid-January and was completed by the end of May to debut for the 2024 Belmont Stakes. Built in collaboration with local union trades, the project included full sitework, foundations, herringbone pavers, fencing, and landscaping.
VISITOR EXPERIENCE: The verandas offer guests a premium viewing location, providing both comfort and excitement. The partially covered design protects from elements while maintaining the open-air atmosphere that race fans expect. Private track access ensures visitors can experience the intensity of the final turn up close.
VENUE TRANSFORMATION: This renovation represents a significant upgrade to the Saratoga experience, creating a refreshed destination that redefines race-day hospitality while honoring the historic character that makes the Saratoga Race Course an iconic venue in American horse racing.
