PROFILE: Schenectady County Library
TYPE: Public Sector

The library originally build in 1969 by Sweet Associates Inc. received a 6,700 square foot expansion to house the new children’s area.

The major architectural features included contractor designed pre-cast arched concrete columns that support the east-side of the addition with energy-efficient glazing in between that allows for natural light to illuminate the interior of the structure. This expansion allowed for additional space to be used for tutoring rooms, meeting rooms, pre-school room, and technology services including computer terminals. The first floor and the lobby areas underwent renovations including upgrades to the library’s restrooms.
