The project involved restoration of the slope adjacent to the reservoir outlet gates. Clay layers, mixed with silt, had been sliding down the slope, encroaching upon the operation of the reservoir.

Our work consisted of “moving the mountain” or cutting approximately 120,000 cubic yards of earth off the slope and moving it to an adjacent site. This results in a more gentle slope and reduces the possibility of a slide.

The completed, five-acre slope receives a layer of topsoil, an erosion control mat, and seed to form good ground cover. At the base of the slope, a precast concrete crib wall is keyed into the rock shelf to prevent erosion when the reservoir water level rises and falls.
